Press Statement

The Save Our Water Committee supports good dental health including oral health programs and proper funding for dental care under MassHealth.

We are 100% opposed to the altering of our drinking water, rated one of the best in the country, by an industrial waste product from the phosphate and aluminum industries.

In addition, while we support voluntary use of fluoride supplements, we do not want our drinking water to be used as a vehicle to treat for any disease, including dental disease.

In 2001, the Save Our Water Committee attended public hearings in Springfield outlining these objections with the offer to work with health professionals in assisting in a dental education program. This offer, made at the Springfield Health Council, was never acted upon.
